Leopards, Local Life & Lumbini: Wrapping Up Our Nepal Adventure
Our Nepal journey wrapped up with unexpected wildlife, peaceful temples, and heartfelt goodbyes. From leopard sightings on safari to home stays in Dhangadhi and a quiet afternoon in Lumbini’s sacred gardens, these final days were slower, sweeter, and full of reflection.
Nepal: Hot Springs, High Bridges & Hidden Charm: Marpha to Pokhara
Nestled between apple orchards and mountain views, Marpha charmed us with its narrow streets, postcard-perfect scenery, and sweet local cider. We soaked in hot springs, crossed suspension bridges, and ended in misty Pokhara — where lakeside strolls, trout farms, and unexpected road‑trip detours turned out to be the perfect finale to this leg of our Nepal journey.
Nepal: Butter Tea, Buddhist Shrines & Yak Farms
From prayer flags dancing over Dhunba Lake to chilly mountain air in Lo Manthang, we found beauty at every turn. We sipped salty butter tea with locals, climbed hundreds of steps to sacred shrines despite thin air, got playful with yak farms and realised that some of the most unforgettable parts of travel are the quiet, unexpected ones.
Nepal: Pashupatinath Temple & the Holy Man Encounter
Our first day in Kathmandu took an unexpected turn at the sacred Pashupatinath Temple. From cremation ceremonies, curious monkeys, a chat with a flesh-eating Holy Man (yes, really), and one unforgettable fire ritual. It was chaotic, spiritual, overwhelming… and the perfect start to our Nepal adventure.
Nepal: London to Kathmandu
From the UK to the heart of Nepal, we travelled through India and arrived in the lively streets of Kathmandu. From border crossings to the chaos and charm of the city, this post captures the first steps of our journey into Nepal.

Before Nepal, Syria, or any big-ticket trips, there were small towns, school moves, family holidays, and childhood memories. This is our story up to 2010 from Kendal and Newcastle to summer holidays abroad, the roots of why we travel today.
